About the Trainer


Cheryl Banton was a trainer at Flowers Design School from 2010 to 2014 and was the Principal in 2013-2014.  She qualified as a Certificate III florist in 2000  in the top 3 of her year,  When undertaking Certificate IV studies in 2012 she was required to upgrade her qualification to the latest training package before commencing Certificate IV.  

In Tasmania she was the Secretary of the Tasmanian Association of Florists for many years , participating in the promotion of floral events throughout the state.  She successfully competed in the local flower show winning Best In Show overall  twice.  



Since 2004, Cheryl has actively worked in her own shops in Tasmania, Inglewood twice, West Perth and now from a Bayswater warehouse..

She has attended workshops with a plethora of designers  in Australia and in 2005  trained overseas in Paris under some of the world's most prestigous floral designers as well as being part of the demonstration support team for designers Gregor Lersch (Perth 2001), Moniek Vanden Berghe  (Melbourne 2009) Eva Maria Herb-Godwin (Melbourne 2006)

Staying Abreast


To continually stay abreast of new trends, Cheryl has attended many workshops  among the best  with  

Gregor Lersch (Ger) , Moniek Vanden Berghe (Belg.) , Per Benjamin (Swed.) , Frank Pieper (Ger.), Jacques Castagne (Fr.), David Berger, Greg Block, Eileen Wenn, Mark Pampling, Alison Bradley (UK), Herve Frezal (Fr,) Born Kroner-Salie (Ger.) , Clement Lee, Neil Whittaker (UK), Grant Collins, Irene Brockwell, Eva-Maria Herb (Ger.) , Julie Guala, Colin Straub as well as many floral art legends.  

 She has been an active and competitive member of the Tasmanian Floral Art Society, Victorian Floral Art Society,  WA Floral Art Society and the Morley Arrangers, winning Best in Shows in both Tasmania and Perth as well as numerous 1st in class placings.

Booking for 3 people - only $80 each


Saturdays 9am to midday. - price $110 pp includes flowers and sundries.  Book a group of 4 and the price is reduced to $80 pp

What's coming up


A FUN WITH FLOWERS WORKSHOP  is a fun and friendly introduction to the wonderful world of floral design.    No previous experience is required.  Just bring along your enthusiasm  and passion.  Class numbers are no more than 6 - 8 so that students get individual attention.  Flowers and sundries  are provided  for the class and run for approximately 3 hours.  Classes are either at night or Saturday morning and a minimum of 4 students are required. 

Frequently asked Questions


Do I need any previous experience to attend floristry classes?

No the Fun with Flowers and Introductory classes  are for the complete novice.

Can I continue  with more lessons?

Yes, we have an introductory floral course which runs for 6 weeks - a total of  18 hours.

Can I undertake just some of these classes?

Yes but the cost for individual classes is higher than the group rate

Can I undertake private tuition to learn specific skills.

Yes but the cost would not be the same as the group rate. 

Will I be able to work in a florist shop after these classes?

No - floristry as a career takes many hours of tuition and is a nationally recognised qualifiication.  These classes are a way to see if floristry is the career for you.
